The Paradise is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films in Telugu cinema. Keeping Ram Charan’s Peddi aside, the Nani-starrer can be considered one of the year’s biggest films in terms of buzz, potential and stakes involved. Characters & Premise
‘Natural Star’ Nani plays Jadal, a young man from a marginalised community in 1980s Secunderabad. After years of oppression and caste discrimination, he raises his voice against feudal lord Shikanja Malik, played by Mohan Babu, and his son Vikram ‘Chata’ Malik, portrayed by Raghav Juyal. The film is written and directed by Srikanth Odela, who previously made Dasara with Nani.
Kayadu Lohar plays an NRI called Subbalakshmi, an outsider on a visit to her hometown, while Sampoornesh Babu appears in a key supporting role in the second half. Sonali Kulkarni plays Sammakka, Jadal’s mother and the emotional centre of his story. Keerthy Suresh also makes a special appearance in the dance number ‘Yeshanagula’, adding another star attraction to the film.
A Brief Heads Up
The Paradise reportedly features several sequences of extreme violence, bloodshed and gore. The CBFC has ordered multiple cuts, visual alterations and mutes for the Indian theatrical version, particularly involving violent imagery and profanity. However, audiences watching the film overseas will reportedly get the uncut version, with no cuts, beeps or mutes. The action drama arrives in theatres worldwide on September 24, with overseas premieres beginning a day earlier.
